We came to the New World to escape religious persecution and the arbitrary power of potentates and princes. We were inspired by the concept of freedom. We fought a king who sought to subordinate this new nation. When we declared independence, our voice was clear and direct:

November 2, the 2010 Congressional elections can determine the future of the legal system of America. An important part of that future is how this nation will react to the increasing pressure to change our laws permitting the influence of Shariah Islamic Law in our country. Three states are currently passing laws prohibiting Shariah compliance in their governments.

Shariah, often referred to as “Islamic Law,” is in actuality a legal doctrine based on the Quran and Hadith (sayings and acts of Mohammed), but one which goes far beyond what Westerners would regard as religious matters or routine legal matters. It is, in fact, a cultural, political, legal and financial system of mandatory laws and punishment. Shariah governance is complex and all-encompassing, controlling every aspect of life. Many of the values and practices found in Islamic law contradict those of our constitutional republic.
